Five questions with Colin Taylor of My Dear Alan Andrews

Colin Taylor is the primary songwriter/guitarist in My Dear Alan Andrews. MDAA manages to sound like they just stumbled out of the Appalachians, like a contemporary alt/country act and like everything in between. In addition to his work with MDAA, Taylor is about to release a solo EP that is being billed as a musical diary of his recent travels. In support of that, he will be performing on 107.1 at 8 p.m. tonight. The full band plays at the Canopy Club at 10:30 p.m.

Favorite C-U band past or present
Zach May and the Maps are doing wonderful things these days. Zach is a phenomenal composer and has surrounded his songs with a strong energy — they channel that energy and have been expanding and expounding.

Favorite C-U venue
The Channing Murray chapel is great for acoustic shows, and the small hall at the Canopy Club has recently jumped into my liking.

Favorite C-U entree, dessert or drink
Whatever is currently the cheapest beer at the mobile on Lincoln & Green

Favorite album of all time (does not have to be from C-U)
“Electro-Schock Blues” by Eels

Why readers should come see your shows

MDAA is changing rapidly; there are new songs and some incredible musicians that will be making appearances with me now and in the coming months. I am so very fortunate to be working with such exquisite talent and passion that it would be a disservice to my current friends and former self to do anything, but promote the forthcoming of the end of the beginning of this dynamic project.

Colin Taylor will be on WPGU 107.1 tonight (May 10) at 8 p.m. and later My Dear Alan Andrews performs at the Canopy Club (10:30 p.m., free).
