We’re proud and excited to announce Ellnora Guitar Festival’s “Instrumental Indie/Psych/Space Rock on the Docket” portion of the festival this year. The festival takes place September 5–7, 2013 at Krannert Center for the Performing Arts. Here’s a portion of the festival’s lineup.
J. SPACEMAN — Friday, September 6 at 6:30 p.m.
This is an incredible get for Ellnora this year as a headlining act. J. Spaceman, a.k.a. Jason Pierce and front man for the world-renowned acts Spiritualized and Spaceman 3. Spiritualized released their latest record, Sweet Heart Sweet Light, last year to critical acclaim, and he’ll be stepping out of that outfit and into his own for a solo performance in the Foellinger Great Hall come September. Needless to say, we’re thrilled that this is happening.
BUKE AND GASE — Friday, September 6th at 10:45 p.m.
Brooklyn duo Buke and Gase join the festival’s lineup this year after the release of their newest record, General Dome, back in January. They’re on the label owned and operated by the prolific Dessner brothers of The National, which means they’re doing a lot of things right. A bit unorthodox in their delivery of their crunchy indie rock, Buke and Gase deliver somewhat of a different musical experience, while being simultaneously rewarding.
EL TEN ELEVEN — Friday, Septmeber 6th at 10:45 p.m. (free)
Another duo thrown in the mix here for this portion of Ellnora 2013 with El Ten Eleven. The band delivers a post-rock sound and have been known for their records, contributions to documentary soundtracks, original scores, and music for commercials. They’re well-rounded and will be performing a free show as a part of this year’s festival.
GYAN RILEY — Saturday, September 7th at 6:30 p.m. (free)
With the musical pedigree of his father, musician and renowned composer Terry Riley, Gyan Riley might get overlooked for his own work. Not so fast — Riley has a musical capacity all his own, appearing all around the world and collaborating with the best of the best. Performing mostly with an acoustic guitar, Riley’s performances are captivating and progressive, while keeping a traditional instrumental acoustic backbone within his performances.
