Champaign-Urbana Symphony presents an Evening with Garrison Keillor

Bows up, eyes alert, as this Sunday, National Public Radio host Garrison Keillor conducts the Champaign-Urbana Symphony. Together with music director Steven Larsen, whose 11 years amidst C-U Symphony is sure to provide an exceptional experience.

Expect humor, bow ties, upright citizens and of course, passionate music.

Keillor is best known for NPR’s radio variety show, A Prairie Home Companion or for Disney fans, Odin’s voice in animated series Hercules. The Minnesota native boasts of books, audio cassettes and poetry, all entangled in his quirky sense of humor.

Swirl that with C-U Symphony, a not-for-profit organization that has been making its mark in the form of music performance and music education. Through live orchestral performances, radio broadcasts and outreach programs, the C-U Symphony has been enhancing culture in the locale for the last 46 years.

And if all else fails, there’s always Keillor’s seductive monotone to get you out the front door.

The concert is on April 6 at 7:30 p.m. Held at the Foellinger Great Hall in Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, 500 S. Goodwin Ave., Urbana. Tickets for general admission, senior citizens and students are $45, $42 and $30, respectively.
