Stone Soup: A Miracle for a Mission Benefit for the TIMES Center

The TIMES Center Advisory Council is hosting a fundraiser of the play Stone Soup: A Miracle for a Mission at the Savoy United Methodist Church on Saturday, October 15, 2011.  The production will begin at 6 PM and a soup dinner and silent auction will follow the performance.  Tickets are currently available for sale at $25 for Adults, $20 for Seniors/Students, $5 for children 5 and under.

All proceeds from this event will go to the benefit the TIMES Center, a program operated by Community Elements, a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization in Champaign County.  The TIMES Center is a Men’s Shelter that houses men in Levels I and II of Transition and offers clients a variety of support services to regain the ability to live independently.  Just last year, the TIMES Center offered homeless men over 19,000 nights of care.  The Center also serves as a soup kitchen and distributes 3 meals daily, 365 days per year, serving almost 67,000 meals last year.

Tickets for the production are now on sale and may be purchased by calling 217-693-4629. For more details on how to get involved, please contact Marsha Reardon at site.rsvp@gmail.com.

Frances Nelson Health Center

A volunteer is needed to work with staff to establish an organizational system for various aspects of Women’s Health Programs, (i.e. IL WiseWomen Program, IL Breast and Cervical Cancer Program, Stand Against Cancer, etc.,) and will make appointments with providers for OV and assessment, submit documentation to CU Public Health, and maintain records in patient charts electronically. Volunteers will also help determine a system of balance to ensure service to a maximum amount of women requiring such programs. This unique opportunity is great for a volunteer with a passion or familiarity of Women’s Health issues, and who has good organizational and communication skills-would be great for retired nurses, doctors, or other health care workers. Volunteers will require training, orientation, and must complete necessary paperwork. For more information, please contact Karla Peterson at kpeterson@chealthctr.org.
