Protest against Trump’s Muslim ban at Willard Airport

Hundreds of people gathered today at Willard Airport to rally against recent political moves by President Trump to keep Muslim people from entering our country. Protestors brought signs, loud voices, stories and plenty of diversity to the peaceful demonstration.

Among the speakers were Urbana’s Mayor Laurel Prussing, who reiterated that Urbana is a sanctuary city; democratic Illinois State Representative Carol Ammons who spoke works of unity stating: “we will not be divided”; and finally a member of the local Mosque in Urbana spoke about his family’s immigration to America and how his family now contributes to the positive aspects of American culture, economics, and society.

The demonstration was peaceful and was monitored by local and state police.
