Crowley Pumpkins makes the woods glow in north Mahomet

Every late October, a small section north of Mahomet glows with the light of 400+ jack-o-lanterns as passersby gaze through their car windows at what has become an annual attraction. Crowley Pumpkins, which began 12 years ago harvesting a modest 500 pumpkins, now grows 10x that amount and attracts visitors from around Champaign county, who either visit to purchase a pumpkin or watch the annual glow. The pumpkin glow was inspired by a similar display that ceased operations in White Heath, IL. Each pumpkin is hand-carved with a unique design and placed on the Crowley’s lawn and the nearby woods. There is just something so central Illinois Halloween about the whole setup. We spoke with owner Julie Crowley about the history of the operation in the video below.

You can view the display tonight and tomorrow from dusk until around 10 p.m. The family asks that you stay in your car and drive slowly.
