Archery team hopes to qualify for nationals

As the second fastest growing organized sport in America, and with its increasing popularity due to Hunger Games, Jefferson Middle School PE Teacher Lynne Srull knew that archery would be a hit with her students when she introduced it to her classes three years ago. When its popularity and involvement amongst Jefferson students increased, Mrs. Srull joined with Greg Schweighart, a local bow hunter and father to one of Jefferson’s top shooters (Bailey Schweighart), to form the Jefferson Middle School Archery Team. Little did they know that within their first year they would come in third at the state tournament and qualify for nationals, competing against 8,000 archers from around the nation.

Now in its third year, with over fifty students participating, Jefferson Archery Team looks to top last year’s performance at state and nationals. This video tells the story of how Jefferson Archery came to be, and follows them in their second year competing, while seeking to top their previous year’s performance at state and nationals.
