Finding Beauty: A look at Shannon Percoco’s Illini Union exhibit

On Thursday, February 10th, Shannon Batman Percoco’s Finding Beauty exhibition opened at the Illini Union Art Gallery. I attended the opening reception, camera in hand, ready to enjoy Percoco’s wonderfully vibrant work and to share the experience with you. The artist’s statement notes that “the central theme of Percoco’s paintings revolves around finding beauty in our everyday surroundings and placing a focus on inspirational imagery.” Many of the images in Percoco’s paintings include a wide array of flowers, and birds. Guests were treated to snacks and enjoyed the opportunity to mingle with fellow art lovers and the artist herself. As I hope this photo essay illustrates, Finding Beauty, which closes on February 28th, is well worth the trip to Campus.
