Register for the Household Hazardous Waste Collection event

The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, along with Champaign County, City of Champaign, City of Urbana, and Village of Savoy is hosting a Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event on April 9th from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the southeast parking lot of the State Farm Center.

Pre-registration is required, and it’s open now. Spots are limited. 

Here are the accepted and not accepted items:

Acceptable Items (ONLY THESE ITEMS WILL BE ACCEPTED; they must be from your household, not from a commercial business):  Oil-based paints, paint thinners, herbicides, insecticides, pesticides, old gasoline & kerosene, pool chemicals, cleaning products, mercury, household batteries, used motor oil, drain cleaners, lawn chemicals, solvents, antifreeze, hobby chemicals, aerosol paints and pesticides, fluorescent light tubes, compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs)

(Local vendor Interstate Batteries will be onsite during the collection to separately accept lead-acid batteries.)

NON-Acceptable Items (THESE ITEMS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED): Latex/water-based paints*, agricultural chemicals, business/commercial sector wastes, explosives, fireworks, controlled substances, propane tanks, smoke detectors, farm machinery oil, fire extinguishers, institutional wastes
