Former Illini guard Jamar Smith is appearing in a commercial for French basketball club Limoges CSP that shouts out their sponsor Intermarché. Smith, who was dismissed from the Illini basketball program after a DUI accident that nearly killed teammate Brian Carlwell and then violated his parole, resurfaced with Division II program Southern Indiana and subsequently went over seas to play professional ball in the Euroleague.
Smith was a promising young shooter and it’s good to see that his life seems to be back on track after a nearly tragic accident.
