Starting this May at Urbana’s Market at the Square, Pandamonium Doughnuts will offer therapy pandas as service animals to help ease the anxiety of customers waiting in long lines for doughnuts. “There were a couple of incidents last summer that led me to believe that we needed to do more for our customers. I thought offering up panda bears for cuddling would be a great way to help calm the folks who were getting really anxious. It’s also great brand marketing because we’re pandamonium doughnuts,” James Kyung recently told me.
The Smithsonian National Zoo will lend out Bei Bei for the run of the market. The popular food truck is still working out the details, but hopes to have at least two pandas available by the opening of the market.
