Farren’s Pub will be taking over the space vacated by Radio Maria, which closed at the end of last year. The space is located at 117/119 N. Walnut in Downtown Champaign, so Farren’s is moving just a few blocks from where it has existed for nearly 20 years — 308 N. Randolph in Champaign.
Here’s what Carolyn Farren, owner of the restaurant, has issued as a statement:
After 19 years at 308 N. Randolph, we will be relocating Farren’s to the space formerly occupied by Radio Maria at 117/119 N. Walnut in Downtown Champaign. We are excited to gain more seats, plus, add outdoor seating to the restaurant!
While we do not have a concrete timeline in place, we anticipate opening in the new space in the coming months. We appreciate all of our loyal patrons and hope they will join us regularly in our new home! Once we determine an opening date, we will update everyone on social media as this new adventure unfolds.
While there’s no information available at this time as to what will go in the space Farren’s is vacating, certainly we will keep you posted on that news, as well as the date Farren’s expects to open in their new location. Farren’s is very well known for their amazing burgers, we ranked it atop our Best Burgers list last year.
In case you don’t know what the Radio Maria space looked like, here are some photos — the first being the south room with the bar, and the second being the north room. Plus, a photo of the corner at Taylor and Walnut with a view of the outdoor seating.
