This past weekend the Subsistence Marketplaces Initiative sponsored its 7th biannual conference in Champaign, bringing together people from all over the world invested improving the lives of those living in low-income contexts.
The University of Illinois has unique connections in all parts of the world for research and scholarship. One of these connections is with the Maasai people of northern Tanzania. At the end of May, I traveled to Tanzania with other students and faculty to meet with local non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and Maasai men and women.
