Did you know that the Independent Media Center offers Capoeira Angola classes on Thursday evenings? It’s an “Afro- Brazilian art form that encompasses folkloric traditions, oral history, dance, and song into a martial art.”
Anyone can join at anytime; you can $40 for a month of classes (since August just started you can still get in on this!), or $15 for single classes. Whether you are just now learning about this art, or you are an experienced participant, you are welcome in class. The “uniform” is pants, a t-shirt, and comfortable shoes, and all white is preferred but not necessary if you are a beginner. Just make sure to register before you go.
The instructor is Denis Chiarmonte — you can learn a bit more about him and the practice here.
