It has been announced that, on Thursday, July 3, the popular professional music group Canadian Brass (who are very good) will join the Champaign-Urbana Civic Wind Band to perform at Champaign’s historic Virginia Theatre. For anyone interested, tickets are available at the Virginia’s website (for a dollar more), by phone, or at the door. The show begins at 7:00 p.m., preceded by an Ice Cream Social out front, with treats provided by TCBY.
The event, sponsored in part by WDWS and The News-Gazette, is cleverly titled ICE CREAM AND INDEPENDENCE. All of which sounds like a groovy way to celebrate the 4th, except that… well… TCBY doesn’t serve ice cream… and the guest group is the Canadian Brass, which is…well, it’s an interesting—I mean, not that there’s anything wrong with that….
Tickets went on sale June 11 and are still available.
