Ye Olde Donut Shoppe has created a doughnut ice cream sandwich with Red Bicycle ice cream. The frozen treat costs $4 and comes in three flavors: strawberry, dark chocolate, and sweet cream.
I tried the dark chocolate, and it was epic. The yeast doughnut was sliced in half and contained a big scoop of Red Bicycle’s dark chocolate ice cream. The doughnut’s glaze was not as good frozen as fresh, but it still tasted great. The sandwich was super cold, and the ice cream had little chocolate bits throughout which added a nice texture. I loved the ice cream’s chocolate flavor, and the novelty of eating a doughnut ice cream sandwich was fun. Made with a Champaign doughnut and Urbana ice cream, this C-U treat was an excellent bite to have on a hot day.
