You really do learn something new every day. Champaign County Forest Preserve District asked people to bring them referendum yard signs for recycling, then they worked with the Central Eastern Illinois Beekeeping Association and Two Million Blooms to repurpose the signs.
According to CCFPD, these signs can be used for all sorts of things including:
- Closed off screened bottom boards for winter
- Top/bottom covers
- Top venting of hives
- “Placemat” to catch honey dripping from supers removed from hives
- Small hive beetle traps
Hooray for reducing waste!
