The What You Will Shakespeare Company (a student theatre group on the U of I campus) will present Hamlet on Friday, October 25th and Saturday, October 26th. The play will be held at 8:00 p.m. and performed at The Channing Murray Foundation, located at 1209 W. Oregon in Urbana. Tickets are $7 at the door.
Here is a short blurb from What You Will concerning the production:
“William Shakespeare’s Hamlet shows us a court surrounded by lies, indecision, and uncertainty. People trick each other, manipulate each other, and kill each other in order to have a small modicum of power and control in their lives. The characters of Hamlet and Ophelia find themselves immersed in this court of masks and must make the decision of whether to do the same to achieve what they want. This period character-driven production invites the audience to experience a more human Hamlet and Ophelia, discovering the complexities of indecision, the uncertainty of life, and the masks we make to cover our intentions and how in the process of making these masks we discover or lose our sense of self.”
