Virginia Theatre opening night tickets on sale now

On Friday, August 23, experience the Virginia Theatre as it re-opens for its Fall 2013 Season! The on-stage program begins at 7:30 p.m., with tickets available now by phone at 217.356.9063, at the Virginia Box Office, and at thevirginia.org.

An exciting array of entertainment is scheduled for the evening, including David Schroeder on the Wurlitzer Pipe Organ, The Chorale, comedian Tony Clements, performers from Champaign Park District Dance Arts and the Marching Illini. The event will also serve as a football season kickoff as Brian Barnhart interviews University of Illinois Head Football Coach Tim Beckman on stage. Finally, view the world premiere of the original stage play The Galloping Ghost: Red Grange Visits the Virginia by local author Charlie Finn.

“Opening Night at the Virginia Theater” is both a fundraiser for the theatre and a celebration of the Virginia’s upcoming performance schedule as well as this season’s unveiling of a beautifully restored performance space. Prior to the event will be a free outdoor ice cream social, from 5:30–7 p.m.
