Since dockless bikes were introduced to Champaign-Urbana last year, you’ve probably seen them everywhere around town, and they have created a bunch of discussion as a result. VeoRide is the company behind those aqua/blue/green bikes you’ve seen strewn about, and now, as the Daily Illini reports, the company will be introducing electric bikes to the fold. The company mentions they will be rolling out these new bikes after Spring Break, which for U of I, ends March 24th.
What’s the difference? Spokesperson Linda Jackson from VeoRide discusses it in the article:
“VeoRide aims to serve a variety of customers, and some prefer e-bikes because it’s easier to pedal longer distances,” Jackson said. “The front-drive motor can assist e-bike riders to pedal up to 18 miles per hour and responsively adjust torque to match riding conditions.”
