From the press release:
Urbana’s Market at the Square Accepting Applications for 2014 Season
Urbana’s Market at the Square is now accepting applications to participate as a vendor or community group during the 2014 season. The season will run everySaturday, May 3rd through November 1st, and is located at the corner of Illinois and Vine Streets near downtown Urbana. The Market will be open 7 a.m.–noon, rain or shine.
This year the Market will continue the use of an online application system. All registration for prospective vendors as well as community groups is handled electronically through this online system. The information that vendors enter into the system when completing their applications will be used to auto-populate an interactive, online Market map and search function. Links to these functions are accessible from the Market’s website, www.urbanaillinois.us/market, and also help to enhance the patron experience at the Market by communicating information about what vendors and community groups will be in attendance at which Markets, what they are selling or promoting, and how to contact them.
Urbana’s Market has been a mainstay of Saturday morning activities for the past 35 years, and is home to an average of 70 vendors every week, all of whom grow or create their own fresh produce, plants, and flowers; farm products such as meat, cheeses, eggs, honey, and fresh baked goods and other prepared foods. There also is a wide variety of art and crafts for sale as well as a variety of local food trucks dishing out everything from cupcakes to burritos. New in 2014 is the addition of a new category of vendors selling locally-produced beer, wine, and spirits.
Performances also take place within the Market and there are numerous free programs offered, geared towards children and adults, alike.
