Civil liberties are not just at the heart of current political debate—they are also front and center in the Urbana High School Theater’s fall musical, Urinetown.
The following content has been shared directly from the UHS press release.
“There is a focus on standing up for one’s individual rights and those of others, as well as revolution, symbolic of community, national, and international events,” said Director of Theatre, Tim Broeker.
Urinetown was inspired by Greg Kotis, who while on a trip to Europe in the 90s, encountered a pay toilet. A few years later, he teamed with Mark Hollman to write and ultimately, create this symbolic Broadway musical that inspires individuals to critically think about human rights in a comedic way.
