Last week, the Urbana School Board voted 4-3 to spend $300,000 annually on putting more police officers in their schools. That decision that has drawn criticism from community members and parents concerned that the vote was taken in haste without proper discussion and planning, and that this has the potential to negatively impact students. You can read more about the decision here.
Those concerned citizens are inviting people to attend the city council meeting tonight at 7 p.m. at the Urbana City Building. From the event page: “It is the last opportunity to voice our concerns and request a delay on the vote in order to allow for a proper discussion and examination of the agreement by the community.”
