University of Illinois Black Chorus announces Mom’s Day concert

The University of Illinois Black Chorus have announced their annual Mom’s Day concert for 7:30 p.m., April 4, 2020, at the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts. General admission tickets for the concert will be $15. You can see their press release below:


CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (Mar. 8th, 2020) – The Annual UI Black Chorus Mom’s Day Concert will be held on Saturday, April 4th, 2020, at 7:30 p.m. in the Foellinger Great Hall at the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts.

The University of Illinois Black Chorus was founded in 1968. Organized by four students, and later under the direction of School of Music faculty with students and officers, the UI Black Chorus has sustained a high level of excellence in the expression of the music of Black Americans. Under the direction of Dr. Ollie Watts Davis, the concert will showcase songs from various genres, including gospel, spirituals, jazz, and popular music. A portion of the concert is dedicated to paying tribute to popular Black musicians of the past and present. The Black Chorus hopes to provide you with an enriching musical experience in tandem with celebrating our wonderful mothers.

The concert is presented by the University of Illinois Black Chorus with the support of the School of Music. General admission concert tickets are $15 and available for purchase at the Krannert Ticket Office. For ticket information, contact the Krannert Ticket Office at (217) 333-6280.
