UI Restructures DIA Administration
CHAMPAIGN, ILL — University of Illinois Director of Athletics Mike Thomas announced today changes to the administrative structure of the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics.
“As I continually assess the strengths of our administrative staff, we are changing several areas of responsibility to best meet our needs and take advantage of what those people do best,” Thomas said. “Vince Ille and Susan Young are outstanding assets to the DIA and have earned their new titles by creating and maintaining a great culture within the department.”
Vince Ille and Susan Young will be promoted to Senior Associate Athletics Directors. Ille is taking responsibility for strategic planning, certification, compliance advisor and departmental quality control, and will continue as sport administrator for sport programs.
Young will retain responsibilities as senior financialofficer for the DIA, which will now encompass oversight of the Assembly Hall financial operations.
Associate Athletics Director Tom Michael will assume responsibilities for academics/admissions, DIA facilities, summer camps, event management and will assist with capital projects.
Assistant Athletics Director Kathy Hug will focus on facilities, event management, band and cheer squad liaison and the Varsity Room.
Steve Greene, Associate Athletic Director for Resource Development, has been reassigned to the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Institutional Advancement, where he will continue to support the fundraising efforts of the Urbana-Champaign Campus. During the transition, Paul Osterhout, Associate Vice Chancellor for Institutional Advancement will oversee the I Fund and the Varsity I Association as the Interim Director. A national search will begin immediately to find a replacement.
Jason Lener, Executive Senior Associate Athletic Director, will assume daily oversight over support areas of strength and conditioning, equipment operations and sports medicine.
