The News-Gazette, and particularly Don Dodson, does a helluva job each week with their weekly business round-up column, “It’s Your Business.”
But this week, I couldn’t help but pick out this little nugget, a quote from Smoky’s House BBQ owner, Joe Evans, who is opening a second location in Savoy to pair with his first in Charleston, Ill.:
In reference to his reasoning for opening a BBQ restaurant in the C-U area:
“There’s really nothing like what we offer in Champaign-Urbana,” he said, noting that Smoky’s House will provide steaks, wraps, burgers and delivery.
“We smoke all our meat on-site, make all nine barbecue sauces on the table and prepare our food on-site,” he said. “We offer dine-in, carryout, delivery and catering.”
Now granted, delivery is offered, and that’s something to consider. But, um… yeah.
This. And uh, this one too. Not to mention, this. Or hell, why not — this one too.
Odd, to say the least, in terms of identifying a market, and looking for the gaps…
