Ever wonder what it would be like to have your favorite childhood books performed by some of C-U’s best actors and musicians? Today on SP Radio we are joined by Tom Mitchell, Associate Head of the Department of Theater at the University of Illinois and Molly Dellaney, Educational Outreach Director for Illinois Public Media. They will discuss the upcoming 5th annual Words in the Wind event, which takes place on November 14. Words in the Wind involves C-U’s finest actors creating adventures from famous children’s book. We’ll talk about how the event came about and what we might expect from this year’s performance. Proceeds from this benefit support the Book Mentor Project, so we’ll touch on that as well.
And musician Zach Vinson, performing at Mike & Molly’s tonight along with Year of the Bobcat and Pedestrians, stops by the studio to play a tune and get us the details on tonight’s show.
Smile Politely Radio airs each Friday evening at 5:30 on WEFT 90.1 FM in Champaign, and is available as a podcast the following week.
