Overnight rainfall boosted October’s precipitation total to 7.96 inches, enough to make this the second-wettest October on record in Champaign-Urbana. And there’s still an outside chance that predicted heavy rains today could make October 2009 the record-setter for most rainfall. The record is 9.01 inches, set in 1941.
I’m thinking it’s rained more than an inch already today, so I’ll bet we’ve already set the record. Also in the article: “So far this month in Champaign-Urbana it has rained 20 of 30 days.” I had guessed 22 or 23, but I guess it hasn’t been quite that bad.
