If you want to show solidarity with Asian and Asian American people in our community and nation, here are three ways to do that in the next week:
Friday, March 26th, 4:45 p.m.
Wear a mask and bring flowers or a sign if desired, candles and notebooks will be available
Saturday, March 27th, 2 p.m.
“We will be rallying at Alma Mater at 2pm to protest the narrative that the tragic murders that occurred in Atlanta were isolated events. These murders were hate crimes, and must be treated and protested as such. Being just the most recent example of the rise of anti-Asian hatred in this country, join us to encourage solidarity and to demand the respect that our Asian community has long deserved.”
Tuesday, March 30th, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
University and Walnut, Champaign
“Join us as we take to the sidewalks and show solidarity for the Asian-American and Pacific Islander community. Come take part as we hold signs with the message #StopAsianHate for cars and people passing by to observe. Both everyday and in the wake of violent hate crimes towards the AAPI population, it’s important to step up and show support for racial justice. We encourage you to come for however long you can between the 4:30-6:30 event time. Hope to see you there!”
