When this measure first came before the board in 2019, it was voted down 4-2, perhaps because the board members had some weird assumption that movies would now become a sloppy drunken party. This has not happened at the AMC theater in Champaign, which has been serving alcohol for a good while now.
Now that Phoenix Theatres has taken over ownership, the issue was revived and the board voted in favor 5-1. You can read more about it here.
