The Undergraduate Library will be transformed into a home for the University Archives, Illinois History and Lincoln Collections, and Rare Book & Manuscript Library, but not quite yet.
After selecting Champaign-based RATIO Architects and Boston-based Shepley Bulfinch to complete the project, the inital timeline had work beginning in January 2022. According to The Daily Illini, that timeline has now been pushed to Fall 2022 to give the contracted architects more time to draft plans for the conversion.
You can learn more about the entire project, including making the Main Library the home to services and activities currently housed in the UGL, on the University Library’s website.
