Deck halls, gift lists with repurposed “Merry Treasures”
Champaign, Ill. — Local artists and crafters are busy putting finishing touches on handmade items they’ll be offering for sale The I.D.E.A. Store’s second annual “Merry Treasures” DIY bazaar December 13-14.
The sale will take place from 4-7 p.m. on Dec. 13 (Friday) and and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. (Saturday) at the store, located at 28 E. Springfield Ave., Champaign. The bazaar features handmade stocking stuffers and other small gift items created from recycled, reused and repurposed materials.
Most of the dozen-plus vendors, who will be selling one-of-a-kind goods in The I.D.E.A. Store’s classroom area during the event, are regular store shoppers and volunteers. Sale items are made from a range of repurposed materials — from fabric samples, neckties and sweaters to ephemera and vintage costume jewelry. The upcycled gifts include functional items and personal accessories, such as market bags, scarves and jewelry, as well as eclectic whimsies and assemblage art created from found objects.
Most vendors will accept cash or checks only.
