The first Matthew C. Farrell 5K Run/Walk will happen in June

 

Farrell was a well known local artist and graphic designer who was tragically killed in 2016. The 5K will benefit the Matthew C. Farrell Memorial Fund and Scholarship, set up shortly after his death. You can register for the event here.

Matthew C. Farrell Memorial Fund and Scholarship

Urbana, IL- On Saturday, June 2, 2018, a fun run/walk benefiting the Matthew C. Farrell Memorial Fund and Scholarship will be held beginning at 9:00 a.m. at Meadowbrook Park (101 W. Windsor Rd, Urbana). 

Check-in and onsite registration for the fun run/walk will begin at 8:00 a.m. at the Windsor street pavilion. The fun run/walk is approximately 3 miles and can be taken at any pace. Runners, joggers, walkers, families, and leashed dogs are welcome to participate.

Registration is required and early online registration is encouraged. Early registration is $25 per participant and onsite registration is $30 per participant. Those who register online before May 19, 2018 will receive a $5 discount and memorabilia t-shirt.

This event is in memory of Matthew C. Farrell, who was a longtime supporter of the Arts, Education, and the Champaign-Urbana community. All proceeds for this event will go to The Matthew C. Farrell Memorial Fund giving a graduating UHS student who plans to study the Arts, a full ride to Parkland College.

“This event is fun and for a great cause,” Memorial Fund board member Rose Barnes said. “We invite everyone to get active with us on our first annual Matthew C. Farrell 5K Run/Walk.”
