During the month of February, The Culture will be celebrating the Black community and will be continuing the #BlackLivesMatter agenda with an indoor rally, open mic and film showing. Not only can this event be used as an artistic platform, but it has the potential to connect and reconnect us to those living and dying in the struggle, seeking truth and justice.
The event is open to the public, free for speakers and those who attend the movie. Hidden Colors 2 (directed by Tariq Nasheed) documents the global African presence and will serve as a prelude to the open mic. The film will begin promptly at 8 p.m. and will lead into the open mic at 10:30 p.m. Many important voices and perspectives will be in attendance, so the open mic will be capped. The open mic is free for all MC’s (speakers on the mic) as well as film goers. For more information please visit CanopyClub.com or contact Shasta Knox.
