As a part of the City of Urbana’s capital improvement plan, Urbana is looking to improve safety in under served neighborhoods through a series of small scale infrastructure projects called the Equity and Quality of Life Project. This project includes adding sidewalks, ramps, and improving street lighting.
A standout point of the project is the selection process for where improvements will be made. This year, the city will be looking at Urbana through an “equity lens” in order to prioritize the improvement of underserved neighborhoods. The $2 million plan in place for the project represents two and a half percent of all infrastructure spending planned for the next five years, and all residents can have a say in where it goes. If you know of any areas of your community that need improvement, fill out the EQL Project Submission Form and let your voice be heard.
