The Champaign Public Library is building a new teen space

Because of its location across from Edison Middle School, the Champaign Public Library sees a lot of teens and tweens come through their doors. Soon, those kids will have a brand new expanded space for after school programming and activities.

According to Chambanamoms, the space (that will be named The Studio), will be on the lower level, and will include “makers’ space for crafting, 3D printing, and sewing; a tech space for general computer use as well as coding and robotics; a production studio complete with a green screen for video and music production; and a gaming area with multiple screens and relaxed seating.”

The current space will continue to have the teen book collections and computers.

Work begins in September, and is expected to be completed by March 2023.
