The Bread Company has gelato now

The gelato is served during all open hours, so you can even get Bread Co gelato for breakfast. The campus restaurant added gelato to the menu last week.

The current flavors are chocolate, cappucino, mint chocolate chip, pistachio, spicy honey, strawberries and cream, vanilla, raspberry sorbet, and mango sorbet. Flavors will change, so keep an eye on the restaurant’s Facebook page for updates on the flavor selections.

Two scoops costs $4.50, and you can add a scoop for $1. I tried four flavors of the new gelato: strawberries and cream, chocolate, cappuccino, and spicy honey.

I ordered two scoops of the strawberries and cream. It’s a classic flavor pairing for a reason. The Bread Company’s strawberries and cream gelato was amazing: so creamy and sweet.

I ordered one scoop of chocolate (on the bottom, not pictured), one scoop of cappucino, and one scoop of spicy honey. The chocolate was a good, smooth gelato with a great cocoa flavor. The cappucino had a lovely coffee taste with little slivers of coffee-flavored chocolate which gave the dessert a great texture.

Oh my gosh, the spicy honey was the best flavor I tried. I have never had a gelato with honey in it before — and it is something I have been missing my whole life. The honey crystals in the smooth gelato gave the teeniest crunch that melted into the gelato. The flavor was excellent: a little honey and a little salty. I didn’t taste anything spicy (like at all), so do not be afraid to try this spicy honey. It was so incredible.

The gelato matches the quality of the rest of the menu at The Bread Co which is to say, it’s fantastic. Go get some.
