Okay yes, avocado toast has developed a certain reputation for being a millennial hipster thing to order. Apparently some rich dude evoked the dish when trying to formulate an explanation about why millennials couldn’t afford to buy homes.
Well, I’m not a millennial, and I’m not a hipster, and I am a fan of the avocado toast. Also, this one cost $5 so I don’t think it’s putting too much of a financial strain on my life.
I like this addition to the Espresso menu. While I’ve had their pre-prepared wraps and sandwiches several times, and enjoyed them, I liked being able to order something that I knew was being prepared in that moment.
I choose the arugula and marscapone option, but there’s is also a caprese version which is also something I would gladly eat. The toasted bread was crispy, the avocado and marscapone creamy and well seasoned, and it was topped with a generous amount of arugula.
It was a nice change of pace from my usual pastry order that while delicious, has no redeeming nutritional value.
