Auditions will be held on November 10, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. for four of six roles in Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa’s play Good Boys and True. Auditions will be held at the Station Theatre and will consist of cold readings from the script with two already cast actors, Maxwell Tomaszewski and Chris Taber.
The play is a mystery/drama focusing on Elizabeth Hardy, an affluent Washington, D.C. doctor, who learns her golden boy son, Brandon, may have committed an extremely cruel act caught on videotape. As she, her sister, and the boy’s coach investigate the found tape, secrets are unearthed and lives are slowly unraveled in the play’s gripping conclusion.
Roles available are:
Justin (actor age 18-25): a high school junior: quirky, rebellious, self-aware, openly gay. In love with Brandon, but growing tired of his limitations. Some partial nudity may be required.
Maddie (actor age late 20s to 40s): Elizabeth’s rebellious sister—a dedicated teacher, uncomfortable with the boys’ club of Brandon’s prep school, a bit eccentric and bohemian.
Cheryl Moody (actor age 18-25): a public high school girl—the other party in the infamous tape. A dedicated student with a plan to improve herself. At first, she is innocent and a bit starstruck by Brandon. After the tape surfaces, she is more world-wise, guarded, and bad-ass.
Coach Shea (actor age late 30s-40s): a stereotypical “good guy” coach with a dark agenda of his own. Was once a golden boy athlete at St. Joe’s and is now a bit worn, out of shape, and bitter. The good guy demeanor masks a lot of his internal motives.
Performances of Good Boys and True will run January 23 through February 8, 2014.
