Damian Duffy, iSchool lecturer and Eisner Award winning author of the #1 New York Times bestselling graphic novel adaptation of Kindred, has completed his next graphic novel adaptation, Parable of the Sower. A brief description of the novel, from the event page:
“The future is marred by unattended environmental and economic crises that lead to social chaos, and not even gated communities are safe. In a night of fire and death, Lauren Olamina, a minister’s daughter, loses her family and home and ventures out into the unprotected American landscape. But what begins as a flight for survival soon leads to something much more: a startling vision of human destiny . . . and the birth of a new faith.”
Duffy will be at Hartfield Book Co. in Monticello on Thursday, February 6th from 6:30 to 8 p.m. He’ll be giving a presentation, then doing a book signing. The event is free and open to the public, unless you’d like to purchase a copy of the book (or other books and items…it’s a cool little store).

There are flames to her left, and mountains in the background. All are in orange, brown, and yellow tones. Parable of the Sower is in block letters over the images. On the right is an orange background and the text An Evening with Damian Duffy. Image from Facebook event page.
