Tonight at 7 p.m. South Lounge Poets Matt Cohn, Elizabeth Majerus, Robert Manaster, Matthew Murrey, & Karen Singer will read from their work at the Otto, Shenk Home located at 405 West Illinois in Urbana.
Who are the South Lounge Poets and why should you check them out? I’ll let them explain:
One Sunday a month, the South Lounge Poets gather to read and discuss poetry as well as to share poetry-related material and news. They are a diverse group of talented poets whose gatherings end up being genuine and genial as well as a good deal of fun.
Robert Manaster founded the group in early 2003. Although poets come and go, the group has existed and thrived since then. It got its name because early on more times than not the group usually met in the South Lounge of the University of Illinois’ Illini Union before they decided where to go for their poetic adventures that day.
