2016 URBANA SWEETCORN FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES SATURDAY NIGHT HEADLINER

URBANA, Il.—On August 26 and 27, 2016, a variety of local, regional and national musicians and performers spanning a wide range of genres will gather in downtown Urbana for the 41st anniversary celebration of the Urbana Sweetcorn Festival. The Urbana Business Association presents the festival to the community each year and is excited to announce the Saturday night’s headliner that will take the festival’s mainstage, Smash Mouth!

Smash Mouth is a California-based 90’s rock band that has adopted retro styles covering several decades of popular music. They are best known for their singles “Walkin on the Sun,” “All Star”, “Then the Morning Comes”, “Can’t Get Enough of You Baby” and amazing covers such as The Monkees’ “I’m a Believer”, featured in the movie “Shrek.”

“We all know that Smash Mouth is the ultimate summertime party band…And with all of their smashin’ hits (pun intended), they are the perfect soundtrack for this year’s Saturday night at the Urbana Sweetcorn Festival!” Paris Blalock, executive director of the Urbana Business Association.

In addition to live music, the Urbana Sweetcorn Festival is also widely known for its local vendors, a range of kid’s activities, the Motor Muster Car Show—and of course—delicious and buttery Illinois sweet corn. For more information, visit www.urbanasweetcornfestival.com.

These images are not from the press release, but if you recall, last year’s Champaign Music Festival featured Smash Mouth, though it got rained out.
