Silvercreek hosting BBQ beer dinner with Dogfish Head Brewery

Silvercreek is teaming up with Dogfish Head Brewery to create a BBQ dinner inspired by four of brewery’s Ancient Ales. The dinner is Wednesday, June 25 at 7 p.m., and tickets are $44.95 (does not include tax or gratuity). Tickets can be purchased at Silvercreek, or you can call 217-328-3402.

In additon to the four-course meal, attendees will sample an additonal beer as an introduction, and take home Dogfish Head goodies, including an Ancient Ales glass, a ceramic coaster, and keychain.

Here’s some info about the Ancient Ales used for the food pairings:

Midas Touch– Midas Touch Golden Elixir is a beverage based on the residue found on the drinking vessels in King Midas’ tomb. Our recipe highlights the known ingredients of barley, white Muscat grapes, honey and saffron. Somewhere between a beer, wine and mead, this smooth, dry ale will please with Chardonnay or I.P.A. drinker alike. ABV 9%

Sah’Tea– A modern update on a 9th century Finnish proto-beer. Brewed with rye, we caramelize the wort with white hot river rocks, then ferment it with a German Weizen yeast. In addition to juniper berries foraged directly from the Finnish country-side we added a sort of tea made with coriander, cardamom, lemon grass, Indian Black Tea, and ramps leaves. The spicing is subtle and balanced and Sahtea is a highly-quaffable, truly-unique brew with a full-mouth feel. ABV 9%

Theobroma– This beer is based on chemical analysis of pottery fragments found in Honduras which revealed the earliest known alcoholic chocolate drink used by early civilization to toast special occasions. The discovery of this beverage pushed back the earliest use of cocoa for human consumption more than 500 years to 1200 BC. As per the analysis, Dogfish Head’s Theobroma (food of the gods) is brewed with Aztec cocoa powder and cocoa nibs, honey, chilies, and annatto (fragrant tree seeds).  ABV 9%

Kvasir– A tart and herbaceous hybrid Scandinavian grog. The newest in our lineup of Ancient Ales, Kvasir (say: Va-seer’) is brewed with lingonberries, cranberries, birch syrup and herbs. ABV 10%
