From the News-Gazette:
A University of Illinois union voted overwhelmingly Friday to authorize a strike if its leaders deem that step necessary.
Ricky Baldwin, a field organizer for Service Employees International Union Local 73 said 98 percent of its food service workers and 94 percent of its building service workers voted to authorize a strike after negotiating for over six months.
Baldwin said it was likely the leadership would decide on a strike at a later date. The union has to give 10 days’ notice.
The union agreed to meet with the university again Feb. 4.
