I wish that I was a gardener. Yes, I plant things, but my skill and will to tend to them daily is just not there. I have the highest respect for those for whom this is a passion, and this Saturday, June 18th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. is an opportunity to see the results of the hard work and passion that goes into creating these works of art.
The Champaign County Master Gardeners are hosting their first Garden Walk since 2019, and it will feature six home gardens and two public gardens: the Idea Garden and Illinois Prairie Hosta Society’s National Display Garden, both at the Arboretum.
Tickets are $10 in advance, and $12 the day of. Children 12 and under can attend for free. In addition to garden viewing, there will be demonstrations happening at the Idea Garden throughout the day. Proceeds from the event will support community projects including the Champaign County Juvenile Detention Center, Crisis Nursery, Idea Garden, Senior Grow Boxes, and YingYing’s Garden.
You can find details about the event, see previews of each garden, and purchase tickets at the Illinois Extension website.
