Here’s an upcoming panel discussion put on by the University of Illinois Library on April 27th at 1 p.m.
Vladimir Putin, as a political and cultural figure, seems to be everywhere – U.S elections, Syria, Central Asia, Ukraine, Republic of Tuva, with Steven Seagal, on Saturday Night Live, and on various social media platforms. Russia and Putin are becoming synonymous in the media. Has this individual eclipsed the Russian state? What historical and current factors are contributing to his mythical presence on the world stage? Come join us for a lively panel discussion on sources and academic perspectives on this subject matter. Four faculty members will be presenting their thoughts on this larger than life figure.
Where: International and Area Studies Library, Room 321
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
