For those of you who love Stanley Kubrick’s brilliant film The Shining (and if you don’t, WTF?), you have just cause to celebrate this weekend at the Art. The mind-bending documentary Room 237, an examination of the deep and detailed layers of meaning in Kubrick’s movie, will be opening Friday the 26th for a limited engagement.
Per the Art’s website:
Many movies lend themselves to dramatic interpretations, but none as rich and far ranging as The Shining. In Room 237, we hear from people who have developed far-reaching theories and believe they have decoded the hidden symbols and buried messages. Room 237 is equal parts captivating, provocative and pure pleasure. Plays with a 35mm print of The Shining.
See the doc by itself or paired with its scary inspiration, and enjoy wrapping your brain around it.
