The connotation of rock-and-roll isn’t as simple as it used to be. With bands stretching the limit of genres and experimentation, the lines have become less distinct as the years pass. Whether or not this is a good thing is a matter of personal opinion, but rock as it used to be still exists. Exhibit A: Secrets Between Sailors.
Secrets Between Sailors have been making their way through beautiful little venues in the Midwest since late 2005. Their chanting vocals and intricate instrumentals serve as a throwback mix to rock and punk bands of the late 80s and early 90s.
Local band Robots Counterfeiting Money is opening the show. The band appropriately covered Andrew WK at last year’s Great Cover Up, and with their scratching guitars and heavy guitar riffs they won’t be one to miss at a quaint venue like the Courtyard Café. Their high-energy showcase serves as the perfect opener for Secrets Between Sailors. Doors open at 7 p.m. tomorrow night; and costs a measly $5.
