Time to gather up the old and no longer used electronics you have taking up space at your house. The City of Champaign, City of Urbana, Champaign County, and Village of Savoy will be hosting it’s fall recycling event on October 12th at Parkland College, and registration opens Monday, September 9th at 8 a.m. The event will happen rain or shine. Here’s what you need to know:
At this time, 18 cities and villages within the County have agreed to participate in helping to support this event. Persons residing in the following Champaign County communities are eligible to register:
Bondville Champaign Fisher Gifford Homer
Ivesdale Ludlow Mahomet Ogden Rantoul
Royal Sadorus Savoy Sidney St. Joseph
Thomasboro Urbana Unincorporated Champaign CountyResidents can reserve one of the available 15-minute time slots between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. Immediately upon reserving a time, a confirmation email and/or text message will be sent. The resident will also receive a postcard in the U.S. Mail five to seven days before the event which serves as their “ticket” into the event.
A list of accepted and non-accepted items can be found on the registration website. There will be a limit of four TVs per postcard (all types, models, and sizes of TVs, including CRT ‘tube’ TVs, will be accepted, working and non-working) and a total limit of seven items per postcard. Small items (cords, chargers, mice, etc.) can be bundled or put into a small box and counted as one item.
