Cara A. Finnegan, professor of communication at U of I will be doing a virtual book launch on Wednesday, May 19th at 5 p.m. Her latest book, Photographic Presidents: Making History From Daguerreotype to Digital is now available at University of Illinois Press, as well as Bookshop, Amazon, and Barnes & Noble. From the book description:
Cara A. Finnegan ventures from a newly discovered daguerreotype of John Quincy Adams to Barack Obama’s selfies to tell the stories of how presidents have participated in the medium’s transformative moments. As she shows, technological developments not only changed photography but introduced new visual values that influence how we judge an image.
Finnegan will join Michael Shaw, publisher at Reading the Pictures, in discussing the book.
